自動車専用船JUPITER LEADERは、船長ほか22人が乗り組み、東京都大島町伊豆大島西方沖を北東進中、ロールオン・ロールオフ貨物船フェニックスは、船長ほか10人が乗り組み、伊豆大島西方沖を南西進中、平成24年3月18日00時32分ごろ両船が衝突した。 JUPITER LEADERは、左舷側外板に破口、凹損等及び手すりに曲損を生じ、フェニックスは、右舷側外板に破口、右舷ウイング、ファンネル及び右舷前部フェアリーダに凹損等を生じたが、両船共に死傷者はいなかった。
