The ship screen for Icon of the Seas: moored, last AIS position with its time, crew-entered destination and ETA, and a credited photo

What the app does

A live map of the ships around you

Ships in view with their heading, grouped when you zoom out. Near me centres the map on you, and Show on map draws a ship's last 24 hours.

The live map around New York harbour with ships coloured by type and 302 ships in view

Follow ships and ports

Keep the ships and ports that matter to you in one list. An ETA board estimates when the ships you follow will arrive, labelled as an estimate and not for navigation.

The port screen for Rotterdam: ships in port now with their arrival times

A sanctions check on every ship, free

Whether a ship is on a government sanctions list, with the list, programme and date, and a link to check it at the source. Matched by IMO number only.

The sanctions check for a tanker listed on three sanctions lists, each with its date and a link to verify at the source

Screens from the App Store listing: the app on live public data, October 2026.

  • The answer first

Search any ship by name, former name, IMO or MMSI number. Its screen opens on where it was last seen, what it is doing and where the crew say it is heading, with the time and age of every position.

  • Push alerts on arrival and departure

Get a notification when a ship you follow arrives in port or leaves. A free account covers arrivals and departures for the first 5 ships you follow; Plus adds every alert type, such as a change of destination. Alerts reach you by email too.

  • Works offline

Your follow list, the ETA board and the last ships you opened stay on the phone. Without a connection the app shows the saved copy and says when it was saved.

  • Helm for your boat

Free with your account: your boat's records, journeys with a GPS track recorded on the phone, an anchor watch, documents and photos, all private to your crew.

  • Sign in with Apple

Sign in with Apple, Google or your email address. One account works in the app, on voydar.com, in the Terminal and in Helm, and a plan bought on the web unlocks in the app.

  • Honest data

Every fact shows its source. Estimates are labelled as estimates and are not for navigation. When a ship is out of receiver range, Voydar says so instead of showing an old position as live.

Questions

Is the app free?
Yes. Looking up ships, ports and companies needs no account. A free account adds following, alerts and Helm. Plus and Pro are optional plans, the same as on the web.
Is there an Android app?
Not yet: the Android app is coming soon to Google Play. Until then, voydar.com works in any Android browser and can be added to the home screen.
Do I need an account for push alerts?
Yes, a free one: alerts follow the ships and ports you follow. Allow notifications when the app asks, and change them at any time under Alerts & notifications.
Does the app track my location?
No. The phone uses your location to centre the map near you; Voydar does not store it.
