コンテナ船NYK VENUSは、船長ほか26人が乗り組み、同乗者3人を乗せ、水先人の水先により阪神港神戸区の六甲アイランド東水路南口に向けようとして北東進から左転中、コンテナ船SITC OSAKAは、船長ほか17人が乗り組み、神戸中央航路南口に向けて北西進中、平成30年5月4日07時02分49秒ごろ神戸六甲アイランド東水路中央灯浮標付近において両船が衝突した。 NYK VENUSは、右舷船首部ブルワークの曲損等を生じ、SITC OSAKAは、左舷船尾部居住区の破損等を生じたが、両船共に死傷者はいなかった。
