A sanctions list's date is the earliest date the list shows the name, not when the ship took it. A name on a list is shown as a former name only where AIS shows the ship using another name after that date; otherwise it is listed as a name the list uses. AIS name changes are dated when Voydar saw them.

The National Transportation Safety Board determines that the probable cause of the breakaway of the Carnival Triumph from its moorings and the subsequent collision with the dredge Wheeler and the towing vessel Noon Wednesday was the sucessive failure of multiple mooring bollards, which were known by BAE Systems to be in poor condition with an undetermined mooring load capability.

About Carnival Sunrise

Carnival Sunrise (formerly Carnival Triumph) is a Destiny-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. As she and her three younger sisters (Carnival Radiance, costa Fortuna, and costa Magica) are each a redesigned version of the lead ship in the class, she is sometimes referred to as the first of the Triumph class of cruise ships. Carnival Sunrise is homeported at Miami, Florida. Built by Fincantieri at its Monfalcone shipyard in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northern Italy, she was floated out on October 23, 1999, and christened by Madeline Arison, wife of Micky Arison, the then-CEO (now Chairman of Carnival Corporation) of Carnival.
