They took a duty crewman hostage, tied him up, and stole his cell phone. The bridge sounded the alarm and the crew mustered. Seeing the alerted crew, the perpetrators fled the ship. The ship reported the incident to local authorities and the Philippine Coast Guard arrived and boarded the ship to investigate.
