CHINA: On 29 December at 0255 LT near position 38-48N 118-16E, the Caofeidian Anchorage, five robbers in a large boat came alongside an anchored bulk carrier. They attempted to board the vessel. However, the alerted crew spotted the boat and raised the alarm. All of the crew mustered. Upon seeing the alerted crew the robbers aborted and moved away.

Three of the robbers boarded the vessel. The alerted crew spotted the robbers and raised the alarm. Upon seeing the alerted crew the robbers escaped in their waiting boat along with their 5 accomplices. A search was carried out and nothing was reported stolen and the crew was unharmed.
