    貨物船MARIE GRACEは、船長ほか20人が乗り組み、水先人が水先を行い、新居浜港沖を東進中、油タンカー大祥丸は、船長ほか3人が乗り組み、新居浜港沖を北東進中、平成26年8月16日06時23分ごろ、両船が衝突した。 MARIE GRACEには、右舷船首部に凹損を伴う擦過傷が生じ、大祥丸には、船首部に凹損を伴う擦過傷及びハンドレールに曲損が生じたが、両船共に死傷者はいなかった。
