UKRAINE: On 31 October, shelling hit two tugboats involved in the transportation of grain barges at the port of Ochakiv, near position 46-36N 031-33E. According to reporting from the Ukrainian Operational Command South, fire broke out onboard the vessels after they were hit. Two crew members were reported killed, another was injured, and one is missing. There is no indication of whether the strikes specifically targeted the tugboats or resulted from indiscriminate shelling of the port area.

UKRAINE: On 7 July, the Moldova-flagged tanker MILLENNIAL SPIRIT was struck by a missile while unmanned and adrift in the Odessa region of the Black Sea. This is the second time that the tanker was hit. According to press reports, the tanker had been abandoned and drifting since 25 February when it was first hit.

UKRAINE: On 1 June, the Tanzania-flagged tanker BRENTIX was struck by a shell while berthed at the port of Ochakov. Reports indicate that the ship’s forecastle area was hit, creating a big hole in the hull above the waterline, damaging the piping system, and sparking a fire onboard. The fire was extinguished quickly by the crew. The vessel was in ballast and no crewmembers were injured during the incident.
