On 20 August, a fight broke out aboard the Spain-flagged LNG tanker MADRID SPIRIT. One crewman was stabbed repeatedly, in the head, back and chest areas. The ship was enroute from Bilbao, Spain, to Nigeria and stopped in Dakar, Senegal, to get the injured crewman to a local hospital. The crew managed to disarm and immobilize the attacker, locking him into a service compartment. On arrival to Dakar, authorities took the perpetrator into custody.
