    MEXICO: On 10 August, at 2040 local time, the crew of an underway offshore supply vessel (OSV), while approximately 7 NM north of Puerto Dos Boscas, near position 18-33N 093-13W, observed perpetrators approaching on a speedboat from behind an oil platform. The ship raised the alarm and made a distress call on VHF Ch 16. Three other vessels operating nearby intervened by approaching and using their searchlights, which caused the speedboat to depart without a successful boarding having occurred.

The robbers took a number of crew members hostage and used them as "human shields". The robbers ransacked the vessel, stealing personal belongings before releasing the hostages and escaping. The robbers fired several shots during the incident but no one was injured.
