EAST OF CERAM ISLANDS, INDONESIA: Four persons in a white colored speed boat, flying Indonesian flag approached a bulk carrier underway at 20-25 knots. Master raised alarm, sounded ship's whistle continuously and crew activated fire hoses. It was noticed that the persons were waving a black cloth and no contacts made on VHF. Master altered course several times to evade the approach. The persons made two attempts to get close and finally aborted the chase at 0925 local time.
