  本船は、船長ほか17人(全員フィリピン共和国籍)が乗り組み、船橋で船長が操船指揮を執り、三等航海士が主機操縦レバーの操作に、甲板手が手動操舵にそれぞれ当たり、入船右舷着けで着岸していた新潟港西区の中央ふ頭H岸壁から軽荷状態で離岸作業を開始した。 本船は、後進して中央ふ頭を離れた後、船長が、機関を前進にかけ、右舵一杯として水路内で旋回中、船首配置の航海士から前方に係留している建造中の船舶(引船、総トン数196トン、以下「建造船」という。)との距離が約150mとなった旨の報告を受け、機関を全速後進として右舷錨を投下したものの、行きあしが止まらず、平成26年6月7日17時14分ごろ本船の船首部が建造船と衝突した。 船長は、損傷状況を確認した後、海上保安庁に通報し、本船は、自力航行で中央ふ頭に着岸した。
