本船は、船長ほか21人(中華人民共和国籍11人、台湾籍4人、インド籍3人、マレーシア籍3人)が乗り組み、水先人が水先し、京浜港東京区に向けて浦賀水道航路の北航レーンを北西進中、平成27年3月2日17時12分ごろ、並列運転していた発電機2台のうち1台が停止して電力不足となり、保護装置が働いて船内電源が喪失し、主機が停止して航行不能となった。 本船は、17時17分ごろ、予備の発電機2台を手動で始動して船内電源を確保した後、主機を始動し、17時24分ごろ航行を再開したが、17時20分ごろから約12分間、浦賀水道航路の中央から左の南航レーンに進入した。
