貨物船BEAGLE IIIは、船長及び二等航海士ほか18人が乗り組み、阪神港神戸区に向けて南南西進中、また、コンテナ船PEGASUS PRIMEは、船長及び二等航海士ほか12人が乗り組み、京浜港東京区に向けて北東進中、平成26年3月18日03時10分ごろ、神奈川県三浦市剱埼南東方沖の東京湾湾口において衝突した。 BEAGLE IIIは、乗組員7人が死亡し、乗組員2人が行方不明となり、左舷中央部船側外板に破口を生じて沈没した。 PEGASUS PRIMEは、乗組員1人が負傷し、船首部に座屈等を生じた。
