本船は、船長ほか16人(全員中華人民共和国籍)が乗り組み、江須埼南方沖を東進中、平成26年5月12日14時55分ごろ乗組員居住区画の最下層部の天井付近から火災が発生した。 本船は、海上保安庁に救援を要請し、同庁の指示により、和歌山県串本町袋港沖まで自力で航行して16時02分ごろ錨泊した後、巡視船及び巡視艇により、外板周囲への放水による冷却が開始されるとともに、乗組員居住区画の最下層部の天井付近の甲板が過熱していたため、周囲の空所への海水注入による冷却が開始された。 本船は、13日08時40分ごろ、海上保安庁職員により、鎮火が確認された。
